This is a simple but elegant wine decanter produced by Dartington Crystal.
This decanter has a flattened, discoid rim, which narrows to form the short, tapering neck. This widens out to merge with the globular body. The latter has a thickened base and a central polished pontil. It is unmarked.
The stopper is of solid elongated teardrop form and contains three enclosed air bubbles that twist around one another. There is a waisted portion above the short peg. The latter is ground to allow for tight fitting with the decanter neck.
This decanter can be seen in the 2006 Dartington Crystal catalogue and has the pattern number DE1558.
It has a maximum height (including the stopper) of 36.2cm and a height to the rim of 24.5cm.
According to the Dartington Crystal catalogue, this decanter has a liquid capacity of 75cl.
It has an unwrapped weight of 940g.
It is in excellent condition, with no chips or cracks.
