This is a stunning contemporary flower vase designed by Hilary Green for Dartington Crystal.
The vase has a broad flattened discoid-shaped rim that tapers in to form a short cylindrical neck. This then widens out to form the lower bottle-shaped portion. On one side there is a discoid seal that is moulded with a stylised pansy motif. The base of the vase is thickened with a domed ‘heel’. The edge of the ‘heel’ is marked with the word ‘DARTINGTON’.
The piece is made from a deep pinkish-purple shade of glass, described by Dartington as ‘Heather’.
This vase is still available to purchase on the Dartington Crystal website and has a retail price of £65.
It has a height of approximately 26.5cm, with a diameter across the rim of about 9.0cm and across the base of about 10.0cm.
It has an unwrapped weight of 1070g.
It is in good condition, with no chips or cracks, although there is the odd wear and tear scratch to the body and base commensurate with use. This is visible on close scrutiny but this wear is reflected in the price.
