This is an interesting example of a flower vase produced by the Cinque Ports Pottery at The Monastery in Rye.
The vase has an elongated neck, which is slightly flared at the rim. The shoulder is rounded, widening out to merge with the elongated hexagonal body.
The interior of the vase is glazed in white, which has been mottled with brown glaze on the top half of the exterior. The lower half is glazed in a glossy brown shade.
The base is unglazed with a large circular depression in the centre. It is marked in black with two concentric circles and the words ‘CINQUE PORTS POTTERY LTD THE MONASTERY RYE’.
It has a height of approximately 23.5cm, with a diameter across the rim of about 5.8cm and a width across the base of about 7.4cm.
It has an unwrapped weight of 560g.
It is in excellent condition, with no chips or cracks, although there is some minor crazing to the glaze.
