This is a nice example of a decorative bottle-shaped vase by German company Dümler & Breiden.
The galleried rim tapers slightly before meeting the ‘waisted’ neck and flared shoulder. There is a curved handle at this point. The body then widens out from here before narrowing just above the base.
The body is decorated around the centre with a band containing a repeating pattern of scrolled lines. This portion is glazed in blue. This is bordered above and below with pairs of incised horizontal lines and panels of impressed square dots. The remainder of the body is glazed in brown, including the interior.
The base is impressed in the centre with the numbers ‘303 25’ and the word ‘GERMANY’. There is also a hand-incised cross mark.
It has a height of approximately 26.0cm, with a diameter across the rim of about 8.4cm and across the base of about 9.0cm.
It has an unwrapped weight of 940g.
It is in good condition, although there is one very minute (1mm wide) flake of glaze missing from the rim. This is only visible on close inspection.
