This is a highly sought-after example of a flour shaker from the ‘Spectrum’ range produced by T. G. Green in the 1970s.
The shaker has a cylindrical upper portion, which is pierced in a star shape at the top. There is a short, angular shoulder surmounting the broader cylindrical base. This is printed with the word ‘FLOUR’ in black on one side. The body is slightly off-white in colour.
The base has an unglazed rim and retains the original red plastic bung.
The piece is marked on the inside, beneath the pierced section, with the words ‘MADE IN ENGLAND’.
It has a height of approximately 15.3cm, a diameter across the top of 5.7cm and across the base of about 7.6cm.
It has an unwrapped weight of 380g.
It is in excellent condition, with no chips or cracks, although there are a few black flecks under the glaze on the reverse, which are manufacturing artefacts.
