This is a pair of high-quality cut lead crystal wine glasses by Edinburgh Crystal but the pattern name is unknown.
The capacious bucket-shaped bowl is cut in the lower half with four V-shaped cuts arranged in a zig-zag line. Where the lines cross within the trough of the zig-zag, there is an overlap. An elongated three-limbed fan cut then surmounts this. There is a further zig-zag line running parallel to the first, but the lines bisect at the peak of the zig-zag instead. Below this point, there is a small three-limbed fan.
The base of the bowl is thickened and sits on a discoid collar. Below this, the stem is of double-capstan form. It then merges imperceptibly with the broad, plain foot. The latter is marked at the edge with the words ‘EDINBURGH CRYSTAL’.
Each glass has a height of approximately 17.1cm, with a diameter across the rim of about 8.6cm and across the foot of about 7.7cm.
Each glass has a liquid capacity (to the brim) of 240ml.
They have an unwrapped weight of 610g.
They are in excellent condition, with no chips or cracks.
