This is a high-quality cut lead crystal bud vase from the ‘Elizabeth’ suite by Royal Brierley.
The vase is of elongated-waisted form with a thickened base. The body is cut with four large crosses, the upper and lower limbs of which come into close approximation. Within the diamond-shaped panel formed between adjacent crosses is a lattice formed from two pairs of parallel lines. Above the centre of each large cross is an oval cut. Where adjacent crosses meet, the point is surmounted by a five-pointed fan cut. The bowl sits on a short stem with a central ball knop. The foot is plain and flat and marked at the edge with the word ‘BRIERLEY’.
It has a height of approximately 13.5cm, with a diameter across the rim of about 5.6cm and across the foot of about 5.4cm.
It has an unwrapped weight of 180g.
It is in good condition, with no chips or cracks, although there are a few wear and tear scratches to the body and foot commensurate with use.
