This is a pair of high-quality cut lead crystal whisky tumblers from the ‘Marlborough’ suite by Royal Brierley.
Each glass is made from thick lead crystal in a cylindrical form, tapering in towards the thickened base. The bowl is cut below the rim with eight equidistant vertical wedge cuts extending down to the base. About one-third of the way down the bowl is cut with a circumferential wedge cut. This creates eight small panels above and eight elongated panels below the circumferential cut. Each of the smaller panels contains a single vertical wedge cut. The larger panels contain two small cross-cuts. The base is star cut and marked at the edge with the word ‘BRIERLEY’.
Each glass has a height of approximately 9.2cm, with a diameter across the rim of about 8.9cm and across the base of about 7.8cm. There may be some minor discrepancies in the dimensions due to the handmade nature of the glasses.
Each glass has a liquid capacity (to the brim) of 350ml.
They have an unwrapped weight of 770g.
They are in good condition, with no chips or cracks, although there are a few wear and tear scratches and scuffs to the bowls and bases commensurate with age.
