This is a classic Grecian-style ceramic pedestal bowl produced by Wedgwood.
The bowl is rounded, with straight sides that taper in towards the base. The exterior of this is moulded with a raised ridged pattern; the interior is plain. The bowl sits on a tall, flared base that is also moulded with a raised ridged pattern in line with that above. The base is hollow.
The underside of the base has a mauve-coloured circular mark with the words ‘WEDGWOOD OF ETRURIA & BARLASTON MADE IN ENGLAND’ as well as the letter ‘A’ and the number ‘6’. It is also impressed with the word ‘WEDGWOOD’ and an alphanumerical code, but this is not discernible due to the thickness of the glaze.
It has a height of approximately 12.1cm, with a diameter across the rim of about 20.9cm and across the base of 9.0cm.
It has an unwrapped weight of 600g.
It is in excellent condition, with no chips or cracks, although there are a few cooling cracks at the rim (see picture), which are manufacturing artefacts.
