This is a stunning example of a large lead crystal flower vase with complex intaglio cutting, probably produced by Webb Corbett in the 1920s or 1930s.
The vase is made from high-quality lead crystal and is conical in shape with a lightly moulded vertical ribbed design. The rim is cut with a band of trefoil motifs, each formed from three wedge cuts.
The body is intaglio cut with a complex design formed from scrolling motifs, fine hatching, floral sprigs, and lobed fan-like sprays, and graduated notching.
There is a discoid collar at the junction of the body and the broad foot. The latter is intaglio cut in the centre with a complex leaf-like motif. It is unmarked.
Although this vase is unmarked, elements of this cutting are frequently seen on high-end pieces of marked Webb Corbett from the 1920s to 1940s.
It has a height of approximately 23.4cm, with a diameter across the rim of about 20.4cm and across the foot of about 11.9cm.
It has an unwrapped weight of 990g.
It is in excellent condition, with no chips or cracks. There are some wear and tear scratches to the body and underside of the foot, commensurate with use. There is also a very faint watermark that extends about 6-7mm up from the bottom. This is only visible on close scrutiny.
