This is a nice example of a rustic decorative fruit bowl by Puigdemont Pottery in Spain.
The shallow bowl sits on a low foot, with four perforations to the rim to allow attachment of a cane handle. The main background colour is cream. The fruit design is slightly raised from the surface, suggesting that it has been formed by the application of coloured slips (liquid clay). The rim is glazed in brown.
The underside is undecorated but has an applied colourless glaze, through which the underlying terracotta-coloured ceramic body can be seen. Within the foot rim, there is a signature in white slip, which reads ‘PUIGDEMONT’, although this is not easily discernible.
The bowl has a diameter across the rim of about 21.6cm.
It has an unwrapped weight of 510g.
It is in excellent condition, with no chips or cracks.
