This is a very attractive flower holder from the ‘Pebbles’ range, which was produced by SylvaC from the 1960s to the 1970s.
The flower holder is approximately oval with sloping sides, leading into an oval rim, which is off-centre. The whole of the outside is moulded to give the appearance of a mound of pebbles in assorted shapes and colours, the most prominent being grey-blue, black and brown. The interior is glazed in an off-white colour, with hints of yellow at the rim.
The base has a raised rim, which is unglazed and shows the underlying ceramic body to be white. Within this are the impressed words ‘SYLVAC ENGLAND’ and the number ‘3360’.
It has a maximum length of approximately 29.4cm and a maximum width of about 19.0cm. The aperture has a length of 13.8cm and a width of 7.9cm.
It has an unwrapped weight of 840g.
It is in good condition, with no chips or cracks, although the glaze is crazed all over.
