This is a high-quality contemporary handmade pottery citrus juicer in two parts, maker unidentified.
The juicer is made in two parts. The upper part is a deep, dish-like portion with a flattened rim. There is a central domed juicer with incised segments that radiate out from the pointed apex. This portion is surrounded by a ring of circular holes, arranged in a pattern. This helps to separate the pips from the juice, which strains into the lower part. The lower part is a deep, galleried dish, with a flared rim that is drawn out on one side to form a pouring spout.
The whole is glazed in a pale stone grey over a tan shade of brown, which highlights many of the edges and features.
The underside is unglazed and impressed to one side with the stylised monogram made up of the letters ‘GP’ within an oval. I have been unable to attribute this maker as yet.
It has a maximum diameter across the rim of about 13.4cm.
It has an unwrapped weight of 450g.
It is in excellent condition, with no chips or cracks.
