This is a stunning set of six high-quality studio glass side plates made by Neil Wilkin for Thomas Goode & Co. Limited.
Each plate is made from thick crystal, with a flat, everted rim. The edge of the rim is decorated with a band of pink glass containing gold mica flakes.
The base of each plate is flat; four have central polished pontils and the remaining two have broken pontil marks. Three of the plates are engraved with the brand ‘THOMAS GOODE’. The other three are unmarked, although one of these bears the remains of the original paper label, which reads ‘NEIL WILKIN GLASS’ and what I believe would have been ‘ENGLISH LEAD CRYSTAL’.
Each plate has a height of approximately 2.2cm, with a diameter across the rim of 17.2cm and across the base of 9.5cm. As these plates are handmade, there is some minor variation in their measurements and conformation.
They have an unwrapped weight of 2000g.
They are in excellent condition, with no chips or cracks, although there is the odd wear and tear scratch to the surface commensurate with use.
