This is a classic example of a sugar bowl from the sought-after ‘Black Pebble’ range, designed by Robert Jefferson for Poole Pottery in 1959.
The sugar bowl is of simple form, with a rounded body that tapers in towards the base. It is glazed in black with a satin finish on the exterior and underside of the base. The latter is unmarked. The interior is white
It has a height of approximately 5.2cm, with a diameter across the rim of about 7.1cm and across the base of about 3.4cm.
It has an unwrapped weight of 70g.
It is in excellent condition, with no chips or cracks, although the glazing around the rim is a little uneven where it meets the white of the interior.
