This is a pair of stunning, high-quality lead crystal coupe or pan champagne glasses dating to the latter part of the 19th century.
The capacious bowl is cut below the rim with eight petal-shaped facets. Below this are two rows of staggered diamond-shaped facets which give a ‘honeycomb’ effect. The base of the bowl is cut with eight triangular facets which extend down onto the bladed knop. Below this is a short, waisted portion above a tapering stem, both of which are cut with eight vertical facets. There is a discoid collar at the junction of the stem and the plain, flat foot. The latter has a central polished pontil.
Each glass has a height of approximately 13.2cm, with a diameter across the rim of about 9.4cm and across the foot of about 7.6cm.
Each glass has a liquid capacity (to the brim) of 190ml.
They have an unwrapped weight of 400g.
They are in excellent condition, with no chips or cracks, although there is the odd enclosed bubble within the glass.
