This is a similar pair of vintage brass vases produced by the Jingfa Beijing Enamel Factory and probably dating to the 1970s.
Both vases have a main design consisting of a light blue flower (probably a chrysanthemum), surrounded by foliage. On the reverse of each vase, there is a further small floral design. On one vase, this consists of long, blade-like leaves, with small blue flowers. On the second vase, there is a stylised branch with what appears to be pink cherry blossom.
Below the rim, one vase has a band of decoration, predominantly in blue, whereas the second vase has a predominantly red design. The vases also have designs around the foot in differing shades of blue.
The vases come with a pair of carved wooden stands, which have been stained to resemble ebony.
They come in their original box, which bears its export sticker, with the words ‘MADE IN THE PEOPLE’S REPUBLIC OF CHINA’. This style of box was commonly used by the Jingfa Beijing Enamel Factory, and stylistically, I think they date to the 1960s or 1970s.
Each vase has a height of approximately 13.0cm, with a diameter across the rim of about 4.9cm and across the base of about 4.6cm.
They have an unwrapped weight (including their box) of 640g.
They are in excellent condition, with no chips or cracks. One vase has a blemish to the enamel on the neck, which is a manufacturing artefact (see pictures). The box is quite worn around the edges, with some very old repairs in tape.
