This is a pair of high-quality cut lead crystal wine glasses produced by Edinburgh Crystal and similar to the ‘Highland’ pattern.
The bucket-shaped bowl is decorated with eight vertical mitre cuts, which create panels. Within these panels is a large cross cut surmounting a lattice of smaller crosses.
The base of the bowl is thickened and sits on an unusual baluster-shaped stem which is moulded with six facets rendering it hexagonal in section. There is a broad discoid collar at the junction of the stem and the star-cut foot. The latter is marked at the edge with the words ‘MADE IN EDINBURGH SCOTLAND’.
Each glass has a height of approximately 11.5cm, with a diameter across the rim of about 7.7cm and across the foot of about 6.4cm.
Each glass has a liquid capacity (to the brim) of 190ml.
They have an unwrapped weight of 380g.
They are in excellent condition, with no chips or cracks.
