This is a pair of high-quality lead crystal drinking glasses from the ‘Rachael’ suite produced by Dartington Crystal.
Each glass has a capacious bowl that tapers into a thickened base and short stem. This merges with the plain, discoid foot. The latter is plain and unmarked.
These glasses come in their original grey Dartington Crystal box, which bears the remains of the original label on the base. They are described on the box and in the original catalogues as ‘drinking glasses’. They are commonly used for gin and tonic, juice, and other long drinks.
Each glass has a height of approximately 12.9cm, with a diameter across the rim of about 8.3cm and across the foot of about 6.9cm.
Each glass has a liquid capacity (to the brim) of 310ml.
They have an unwrapped weight of 430g.
They are in excellent condition, with no chips or cracks, although there are some inclusions in the glass, such as tiny bubbles, and one tool mark at the join of the stem and foot. These are manufacturing artefacts and are to be expected from handmade glass.
