This is a simple but charming example of a late-19th-century moulded glass whisky tumbler, probably dating to around 1880.
The tumbler is made from thick lead crystal and has a rounded upper portion. It is moulded with six deep panels which have rounded upper margins. These render the thickened base hexagonal in section. The underside of the base is polished flat with a central domed portion.
The tumbler has a height of approximately 10.1cm, with a diameter across the rim of about 9.1cm and a width across the base of 6.2cm.
It has a liquid capacity (to the brim) of 320ml.
It has an unwrapped weight of 450g.
It is in good condition but has numerous scratches to the interior and exterior of the bowl commensurate with age and use. There are also some minor chips out of the edge of the base and at the corners, which are to be expected. This wear is reflected in the price.
