This is a charming and well-executed example of a ceramic figure of a dachshund produced by Goebel.
The dog has been moulded with good detailing, showing the ribs and skin folds. It is glazed in multiple tones of brown and cream. The feet and facial details are in black. The front feet and hindquarters are unglazed on the underside, revealing the underlying white ceramic body.
The underside of the stomach is marked with the words ‘MADE IN WESTERN GERMANY’. In addition, it is impressed with a pattern number which I believe may be ‘2351’ although this is hard to discern.
It has a maximum height of approximately 8.5cm and a maximum length of approximately 11.5cm.
It has an unwrapped weight of 90g.
It is in excellent condition, with no chips or cracks, although there is some minor crazing to the glaze around the maker’s mark.
