This is a high-quality lead crystal wine goblet from the ‘Tweed’ range produced by Edinburgh Crystal.
The capacious rounded bowl is decorated in its lower part with a cut pattern consisting of ten large five-limbed fans, which come into close approximation forming arches. The area between and beneath the fans is filled with cut diamonds in relief. The solid base of the bowl merges with the long, straight stem, which is moulded with six vertical ‘facets’, thus making it hexagonal in section. The foot is star cut and is marked on the edge with the words ‘EDINBURGH SCOTLAND’.
It has a height of approximately 18.8cm, with a diameter across the rim of about 7.6cm and across the foot of about 7.4cm.
It has a liquid capacity (to the brim) of 275ml.
It has an unwrapped weight of 210g.
It is in excellent condition, with no chips or cracks, although there are a couple of very fine scratches to the bowl commensurate with use.
