This is a nice example of a pair of posy vases made under the trademark ‘E. Radford’ by H.J. Wood (Ltd) of Alexandra Pottery, Burslem.
Each vase has an elongated cylindrical neck, which widens out to form the rounded body. It is stippled with a pale pink glaze; this is then decorated by hand with a stylised red anemone on one side and a purple one on the reverse.
The base is impressed with the number ‘1014’ and is printed with the words ‘MADE IN ENGLAND’. In addition, there is a hand-painted decorator’s monogram.
Each vase has a height of approximately 7.7cm, with a diameter across the rim of about 2.4cm and across the base of about 3.7cm.
They have an unwrapped weight of 110g.
They are in excellent condition, with no chips or cracks, although the glaze is finely crazed all over.
