This is a classic example of a candlestick designed by Hans-Eric Anderson for Dartington Glass in 1968.
The upper portion is pan-shaped, tapering and forming the cylindrical lower part. This merges imperceptibly with the elongated stem. This then flares out to form the broad, slightly domed foot. It is unmarked.
It has a height of approximately 19.6cm, with a diameter across the rim of about 6.8cm and across the foot of about 8.9cm.
It has an unwrapped weight of 130g.
It is in excellent condition, with no chips or cracks, although there may be a few fine wear and tear scratches to the foot commensurate with age.
Please note: Despite having the product number ‘D69’ as given by Dartington Glass in 1968, these candlesticks are often found online under the pattern number ‘D71’. ‘D71’ is the pattern number for the shorter version of this design, but due to an error in the book ‘Dartington Glass: The First Twenty Years’ where the attributions were the wrong way round, this myth has been perpetuated online as people refer to this book and not the original catalogues.
