Chance Glass ‘Gold Calypto’ Design Fluted Handled Cake Plate (8 ¼”)

This is a lovely example of a handled glass cake plate from the gold variant of the ‘Calypto’ range, designed by Michael Harris for Chance Glass.

The dish has a fluted, gilded rim; the remainder is printed in gold with a stylised eucalyptus print.

The original ‘Calypto’ design was introduced in 1959 and continued in production until around 2000. The ‘Gold Calypto’ variation was put into production after 1970. 

The plate has been drilled through the centre, and a gold-coloured metal handle has been attached.

It has a maximum height of approximately 13.2cm and a diameter across the rim of about 21.1cm.

It has an unwrapped weight of 290g.

It is in excellent condition, with no chips or cracks, although there are a few wear and tear scratches to the underside commensurate with use.

Please note: the handle will be unscrewed from the plate and wrapped separately to minimise the potential for damage during transit.
