This is a stunning, high-quality cut lead crystal salt, produced by Stuart Crystal and dating to the 1950s.
The salt has a short bowl with an everted rim. Just below this, it is cut with a ring of horizontal leaf-shaped wedge cuts. The centre of the bowl is cut with a band of raised diamonds that taper in size as they approach the base. The latter is thickened and sits on a broad collar and short, tapering stem. The foot is of thick discoid form and is star-cut on the underside. It is unmarked.
This piece has the pattern number 30416 and can be seen on page 34 of the 1955 Stuart Crystal catalogue.
It has a height of approximately 7.5cm, with a diameter across the rim of about 6.9cm and across the foot of about 6.3cm.
It has an unwrapped weight of 170g.
It is in excellent condition, with no chips or cracks.
