This is a pair of charming utilitarian dram glasses produced in the latter quarter of the 19th century.
The trumpet-shaped bowl tapers in and merges with the solid, tapering stem. The base of the bowl is decorated with a ring of eight inverted teardrop or ovoid cuts. The foot is plain and slightly domed in the centre. Each foot bears the remains of the ‘Y’ or ‘T’ shaped tool mark in the centre.
The glasses are made from soda glass (non-lead) and have a grey tint.
Each glass has a height of approximately 10.3cm, with a diameter across the rim of about 5.0cm and across the foot of about 5.4cm. There are some minor discrepancies in their dimensions due to the handmade nature of the glasses.
Each glass has a liquid capacity (to the brim) of 50ml.
They have an unwrapped weight of 140g.
They are in excellent condition, with no chips or cracks.
