This is a charming piece of studio glass produced by Will Shakspeare at Shakspeare Glass in Langport, Somerset.
The vase is of classic bottle form, with a globular body, tapered neck and flattened discoid rim.
It has an inner flecked blue glass layer that is striated and decorated with randomly applied white and red glass pieces. The whole piece is encased in flint (clear) glass.
The base is ground flat but has a central domed portion with a rough pontil mark. Above this, it is hand engraved with the signature ‘SHAKS’.
It has a height of approximately 12.0cm and a diameter across the rim of about 5.9cm.
It has an unwrapped weight of 290g.
It is in excellent condition, with no chips or cracks.
