This is a fine example of a porcelain Hawfinch figure, produced by W. Goebel of Germany and dating to the latter half of the 20th century.
The bird is modelled facing towards its right and the texture of the feathers and other details are moulded in relief. The branch has a bunch of cherries suspended beneath it.
The underneath is impressed with the model number CV83 and has the blue transfer printed mark, consisting of a bee within a V and the words ‘© by W. Goebel W. Germany’. This particular mark was in use between 1964 and 1972.
In addition, this piece bears its original silver and black sticker, which reads ‘KERNBEIßER HAWFINCH GROS-BEC CASSENOYAUX’.
It has a maximum height of approximately 15.7cm.
It has an unwrapped weight of 260g.
It is in excellent condition, with no chips or cracks.
