This is a high-quality lead crystal comport dish produced by Thomas Webb and dating to the mid-20th century.
The upper portion is of deep galleried form. It is decorated with a simple design consisting of a row of long angular mitre cuts meeting a row of shorter mitre cuts positioned in the opposite direction.
The base of the bowl is thickened and tapers in as it merges with the baluster-shaped stem. There is a globular attachment at the junction of the stem and the plain, flat foot. The latter is marked in the centre with the words ‘WEBB ENGLAND’. This mark was in use between 1950 and 1966.
It has a height of approximately 14.7cm, with a diameter across the rim of about 9.4cm and across the foot of about 8.2cm.
It has an unwrapped weight of 380g.
It is in excellent condition, with no chips or cracks, although there are a few wear and tear scratches to the exterior, commensurate with age.
