This is a charming set of six soda glass tumblers dating to the end of the 19th century.
Each tumbler is approximately cylindrical, tapering in towards the thickened base. The latter is polished flat in the centre.
The lower half of each glass is cut with six arch-shaped panels alternating with a large eight-pointed star with an elongated lower limb that extends down to the base. Below the rim, on one side of the glass, is an elaborate acid-etched scrolling motif with a central cartouche containing a stylised initial ‘E’.
Each glass has a height of approximately 11.2cm, with a diameter across the rim of about 7.2cm and across the base of about 5.2cm.
Each glass has a liquid capacity (to the brim) of 275ml.
They have an unwrapped weight of 970g.
They are in very good condition for their age, with some very minor scratches commensurate with use. There is the odd very small nick out of the edge of the base, predominantly along the edge of the arch cuts. These are too small to photograph and are to be expected but I mention them for the sake of completion.
