This is a high-quality cut and moulded lead crystal square spirit decanter by Royal Crystal Rock (RCR).
The thick, galleried rim tapers in to merge with the shoulder. This is moulded with a tapering faceted effect.
The body is square in section with chamfered corners. All four sides are cut above the base with a blaze of short, vertical wedge cuts. Three of the four sides are cut with a large central fan motif, flanked by intersecting pairs of parallel lines surmounting an angular wedge cut.
The fourth side is uncut, which is ideal for use as an engraving blank.
The thickened base is star-cut in the centre and unmarked.
The stopper is solid, with a square upper section with chamfered corners to echo the shape of the body. The apex is star-cut. The edge of the stopper is cut with relief diamonds, and each chamfered corner is decorated with a pair of vertical mitre cuts. The peg is of smooth, tapering form.
It has a height (excluding the stopper) of approximately 18.8cm, with a diameter across the rim of about 5.9cm and a width across the base of about 9.3cm. It has a maximum height (including the stopper) of about 22.2cm.
The blank front panel measures 7.0cm by 12.0cm.
It has a liquid capacity (just below the shoulder) of 500ml.
It has an unwrapped weight of 1420g.
It is in excellent condition, with no chips or cracks.
