This is an exceptionally high-quality, cut lead crystal custard or punch cup, maker unknown but dating to the turn of the 19th to 20th centuries.
The cup is of tapering form with a plain handle attached on one side. It is cut below the rim with a complex star and raised diamond motif, bordered above and below by a pair of circumferential mitre cuts. Below this is a lattice formed by three rows of interlocking cross-cuts.
The cup sits on a thick, discoid foot, which is star-cut in the centre and unmarked.
It has a height of approximately 7.8cm, with a diameter across the rim of about 6.5cm and across the foot of about 4.0cm.
It has a liquid capacity (to the brim) of 105ml.
It has an unwrapped weight of 160g.
It is in very good condition, although there is one very minor graze to the top surface of the foot. It is only visible upon very close scrutiny.
