This is a high-quality lead crystal brandy glass from the ‘Bruce’ suite produced by Royal Brierley.
The capacious rounded bowl is cut in its lower half with a lattice formed from two rows of interlocking crosses. This lattice is surmounted by a circumferential mitre cut topped with five equidistantly positioned five-limbed fan cuts.
The base of the bowl is thickened and sits on a short, waisted stem. The foot is plain and marked at the edge with the word ‘BRIERLEY’.
This glass is seen in the 1986 Royal Brierley catalogue listed as a ’12oz brandy’. It matches both the ‘Bruce’ suite (No. 1463) and the ‘Tall Bruce’ suite (No. 3549).
It has a height of approximately 12.4cm, with a diameter across the rim of about 6.4cm and across the foot of about 6.5cm.
It has a liquid capacity (to the brim) of 340ml.
It has an unwrapped weight of 230g.
It is in excellent condition, with no chips or cracks.
