This is a nice example of a flower vase from the ‘Traditional Range’, which was a nod to their earlier pieces produced under Truda Carter.
The vase is of classic form, with an everted rim, a short neck and a broad, bulbous body. This sits on a discoid base.
The vase is glazed on the interior with a pale mushroom shade and on the exterior a pale grey. The rim is decorated with a band of green spots and below this a circumferential band of yellow. It is hand-painted with four sprigs of yellow flowers, which alternate in position from below the rim to above the base. In the gaps between adjacent motifs are groups of three green spots.
The base is marked in the centre with an oval containing a central ‘grotesque’ dolphin and the words ‘POOLE ENGLAND’. This mark was in use from 1959 to 1967. In addition, it is impressed with the shape number ‘266’.
It has a height of approximately 15.0cm, with a diameter across the rim of about 7.2cm and across the base of about 7.7cm.
It has an unwrapped weight of 490g.
It is in excellent condition, with no chips or cracks.
