This is a pair of high-quality lead crystal wine goblets from the ‘Theo’ range designed by Frank Thrower for Wedgwood Crystal.
The capacious bowl is tulip-shaped, tapering inwards to merge with the elongated cylindrical stem. There is a discoid collar at the junction of the stem and the plain, flat foot. The latter is unmarked.
The glasses are in their original box, which is labelled to indicate that the contents are ‘slightly imperfect’. This suggests that the glasses may be of ‘seconds’ quality.
Each glass has a height of approximately 23.5cm, with a diameter across the rim of about 6.0cm and across the foot of about 7.4cm.
Each glass has a liquid capacity (to the brim) of 340ml.
They have an unwrapped weight (including the box) of 570g.
They are in excellent condition, with no chips or cracks, although there are some bubbles and enclosed pieces of frit within the glass, which is why they are labelled as ‘seconds’. There is some marking to the box, which is visible in the pictures.
