This is a pair of high-quality cut lead crystal wine glasses, probably dating to about 1880.
The rounded bowl is cut with a ring of fourteen (14) elongated ‘thumb’ (printie) or oval cuts around its centre. The base of the bowl is cut with a ring of seven overlapping oval facet cuts, arranged horizontally. The bowl sits on a long, straight stem. The discoid foot is plain, with a central polished pontil.
Each glass has a height of approximately 10.7cm, with a diameter across the rim of about 6.2cm and across the foot of about 5.5cm.
Each glass has a liquid capacity (to the brim) of 80ml.
They have an unwrapped weight of 210g.
They are in excellent condition, with no chips or cracks, although there are some wear and tear scratches to the bowls and feet commensurate with age.
