Pair of Orrefors (Sandvik) ‘Astrid’ Design Sherry Glasses in Brown

This is a pair of iconic ‘Astrid’ design sherry glasses, designed by Simon Gate for Orrefors of Sweden.

The bowl is bell-shaped, tapering in towards the solid stem. The latter is of undulating form, with three bulbous knops that increase in size as they approach the base. The foot is plain and discoid in form. It is unmarked.

The glasses are made from soda glass in the classic pale brown shade.

The Astrid suite was introduced in 1924 and was in production until 1966.

Each glass has a height of approximately 13.7cm, with a diameter across the rim of about 5.8cm and across the foot of about 5.7cm.

Each glass has a liquid capacity (to the brim) of 50ml.

They have an unwrapped weight of 100g.

They are in excellent condition, with no chips or cracks, although there is the odd wear and tear scratch commensurate with use.
