This is a pair of high-quality lead crystal wine glasses from the ‘Val d’Isere’ suite by J. G. Durand of France.
The capacious, rounded bowl is tapered in slightly at the rim. The bowl narrows as it approaches the base and merges with the solid, straight stem. The latter merges with the plain, flat foot, which is marked towards the edge with ‘J. G. DURAND’.
The bowl is decorated with three large leaves arranged around the base of the bowl. These have been cut and etched to give a matte intaglio finish.
Each glass has a height of approximately 19.5cm, with a diameter across the rim of about 6.4cm and across the foot of about 7.4cm.
Each glass has a liquid capacity (to the brim) of 275ml.
They have an unwrapped weight of 390g.
They are in excellent condition, with no chips or cracks.
