This is a pair of high-quality moulded lead crystal avocado dishes designed by Frank Thrower in 1971 for Dartington Glass.
Each bowl is made from clear lead crystal, with a rounded body and a pulled lug or handle to one side of the rim. The interior is smooth, and the exterior is moulded with a textured finish reminiscent of avocado skin.
The base is flat, slightly textured and unmarked.
They come in their original black cardboard box, which reads ‘TWO DARTINGTON AVOCADO DISHES’ on the front.
Each dish has a maximum height of approximately 4.7cm, with a maximum width of about 8.5cm and a maximum length of 14.5cm.
They have an unwrapped weight (including their box) of 520g.
They are in excellent condition, with no chips or cracks, although the box is quite worn around the edges. There are also some marks on the interior of the box consistent with use.
