This is a high-quality cut lead crystal comport dating to the mid-Victorian era.
The capacious, rounded bowl is matte cut around the exterior with an undulating grass and leaf motif. The stem is of capstan form, with a slightly broader attachment to the bowl. It sits on a plain, discoid foot that has a central polished pontil.
It has a height of approximately 12.3cm, with a diameter across the rim of about 13.2cm and across the foot of about 10.0cm.
It has an unwrapped weight of 420g.
It is in good condition, with no chips or cracks, although there are a few scratches around the edge of the bowl, which are consistent with age.
