This is a highly attractive ceramic dish produced by Winterling of Röslau and dating to the post-war period.
The dish is lenticular in shape and has a thick band of gilding at the rim. It is decorated around the edge with stripes of black glaze that fade out as they approach the rim. There is a ‘blaze’ of thin stripes of gold that is applied all around the interior edge of the dish. In the centre of the dish is a stylised floral design, also in gold.
The underside of the dish is marked in the centre with the crown logo surmounting the words ‘WINTERLING RÖSLAU BAVARIA’ and the number ‘7’ in green. This mark was in use between 1945 and 1950.
There is a detachable gold-coloured metal handle that is bound in the centre by black vinyl or plastic.
It has a maximum height at the rim of the plate of 4.3cm, with a length of 19.3cm and a width of about 16.5cm. It has a maximum height (including the handle) of about 13.5cm.
It has an unwrapped weight of 250g.
It is in excellent condition, with no chips or cracks, although there is some minor wear to the gilding in the centre commensurate with use.
