This is a striking and highly decorative piece of Majolica, probably dating to between 1870 and 1880 but the maker is unknown.
The body is moulded to resemble a maize cob with leaves in relief, forming the spout, base, and handle. The base has a lozenge-shaped registration mark but the figures are indecipherable. The interior is glazed in pink.
It has a height to the rim of approximately 21.3cm, with a diameter across the rim of about 7.5cm and across the base of about 9.5cm.
This piece has an unwrapped weight of 790g.
It is in good condition considering its age, with no chips or cracks, although there is some minor glaze wear to the top of the handle and the spout as shown in the pictures.
