This is a nice example of a high-quality cut lead crystal tazza, maker unknown, but dating to around 1870 to 1880.
The broad, pan-shaped bowl is cut with a band consisting of three rows of interlocking crosses that form a lattice. Surmounting this lattice, just below the rim, is a band of lens cuts alternating with vertical wedge cuts.
The base of the bowl is plain and meets the baluster-shaped stem at a discoid collar. There is a further collar at the junction of the stem and the broad, flat foot. The latter has a central polished pontil and is unmarked.
It has a height of approximately 14.8cm, with a diameter across the rim of about 18.5cm and across the foot of about 10.4cm.
It has an unwrapped weight of 700g.
It is in excellent condition, with no chips or cracks, although there is the odd wear and tear scratch commensurate with age.
