This is an unusual and quirky example of a mid-20th-century pottery money box by Geoffrey Maund.
The moneybox is in the form of a stylised pig and stands on four tapering legs. The facial features are hand-painted in black glaze. It is decorated with burgundy-coloured circles with black lines over the top, and groups of yellow spots.
On one side, it is painted in black with the words ‘IMMORAL EARNINGS’.
There is a wide hole in the top of the pig, which is for the insertion and removal of coins.
The piece is marked but is distinctively by Geoffrey Maund Pottery.
It has a maximum height of approximately 9.0cm, with a maximum length of about 15.5cm and a maximum width of about 8.5cm.
It has an unwrapped weight of 320g.
It is in good condition, with no chips or cracks. There is some crazing all over the glaze, and there are a few firing flaws around the hole at the top, which are manufacturing artefacts.
