Dartington Glass ‘Leo’ Design Zodiac Paperweight FT220

This is a classic example of a lead crystal paperweight designed by Frank Thrower in 1977 for Dartington Glass.

The paperweight is of thick, cylindrical form and is impressed on the underside with a central stylised lion motif and the words ‘LEO 23 JUL 23 AUG’.

It is unmarked.

The primitive images in this series of twelve paperweights were inspired by pre-Renaissance horoscopic art.

It has a height of approximately 3.1cm and a diameter of 7.5cm.

It has an unwrapped weight of 380g.

It is in good condition, with no chips or cracks, although there are a few wear and tear scratches to the top commensurate with age.
