This is a charming example of a mid-century ceramic gravy separator.
The piece has been crudely made in white ceramic. It is decorated on the interior with transfer-printed vegetables that have been hand-coloured. It is also printed with the phrases ‘GRAVY FAT’ and ‘GRAVY LEAN’, as well as the name ‘NO-DRIP GRAVY SEPARATOR’ on the handle. There is a hole at the end of the handle to allow it to be hung up.
The underside is finished in a bright yellow shade, which fades as it approaches the handle. It has two raised curved rims for it to rest on.
It has a maximum height of approximately 7.4cm, with a length across the spouts of around 18.0cm and a width from the tip of the handle to the edge of the body of 20.9cm.
It has an unwrapped weight of 270g.
It is in good condition, although as previously mentioned it is crudely made so there are notches out of the edges where it has been trimmed during manufacture. There are also two stains within the interior which have been caused by use. There is also a 1mm wide flake of glaze out of the rim. This wear is reflected in the price.
