This is a high-quality cut and moulded lead crystal wine glass from the ‘Dorchester’ suite produced by Royal Doulton Crystal.
The capacious bowl tapers in and merges with the elongated, tapering stem. The bowl is cut with a lattice formed from five rows of eight crosses, which diminish in size as they approach the base of the bowl. An alternating pattern of vertical wedge cuts and five-pointed fans surmounts the peaks of the crosses on the uppermost row.
The stem merges with the plain, flat foot. The latter is marked at the edge with the crowned lion’s head emblem.
In addition, the glass bears the original black and white paper label, which also bears the lion head logo and reads ‘ROYAL DOULTON ENGLAND 1815’.
It has a height of approximately 20.5cm, with a diameter across the rim of about 7.8cm and across the foot of about 7.1cm.
It has a liquid capacity (to the brim) of 345ml.
It has an unwrapped weight of 280g.
It is in excellent condition, with no chips or cracks, although there is some wear to the paper label.
