This is a pair of high-quality cut lead crystal sherry glasses from the ‘Glencoe’ suite produced by Stuart Crystal.
The capacious rounded bowl is cut with ten large crosses, the upper and lower limbs of which come into close approximation. Each large cross is surmounted by a broad, vertical leaf-shaped wedge cut. Within the diamond-shaped panel formed between adjacent crosses is a smaller cross which has been overcut with a horizontal line.
The bowl merges with the plain, cylindrical stem. There is a small discoid attachment at the junction of the stem and the star-cut foot. The latter is unmarked.
Each glass has a height of approximately 12.6cm, with a diameter across the rim of about 5.5cm and across the foot of about 5.5cm. There may be some minor discrepancies in the dimensions due to their handmade nature.
Each glass has a liquid capacity (to the brim) of 100ml.
They have an unwrapped weight of 250g.
They are in excellent condition, with no chips or cracks, although there is the odd enclosed bubble within the glass, which is a result of the manufacturing process.
