This is a simple collectible mug made to commemorate the Investiture of the Prince of Wales on 1st July 1969.
The mug is approximately cylindrical with a gilded rim. The handle is angular with a gold stripe along the edge. On one side of the mug, it is transfer printed with a stylised red Welsh dragon atop a wreath containing a stylised four-leaf clover, a Tudor rose, a leek (the Welsh national vegetable) and a stylised thistle. Below this is printed the words ‘THE INVESTITURE AT CAERNARVON OF H.R.H. THE PRINCE OF WALES 1ST JULY 1969’.
The base is plain and unmarked.
It has a height of approximately 8.1cm, with a diameter across the rim of about 7.9cm and across the base of about 7.8cm.
It has an unwrapped weight of 250g.
It is in excellent condition, with no chips or cracks, although there is some crazing to the glaze.
